Eating with a knife and fork

Eating with a knife and fork

Prepare a plate of food suitable for cutting, a knife, and a fork.
This exercise can also be performed using therapy putty or playdough instead of food.
Hold the knife in one hand and the fork in your other hand.
The most functional way to hold a knife and a fork is by having your index finger pointed down the cutlery, while your other fingers are curled around the handle.
Use the fork to keep the food in place whilst using the knife to cut the food with a back and forth action.
If needed, a non-slip mat can also be used under the plate to keep the plate in place.

Required equipment: Therapy putty, Table, Chair
